The Governing Committee

The Governing Committee is composed of SNIS founding members from the University of Geneva and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva, as well as institutional founding partners in Switzerland: the World Trade Institute, Bern; the Center for Comparative and International Studies, University of Zurich and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich; the Swiss Tropical Institute, Basel; and the Swiss Institute for International Economics and Applied Economic Research, University of St.Gallen.

  • heads the Swiss Network for International Studies and the bodies and organs created within

The Scientific Committee

Bringing together Swiss and international Professors with expertise in one or several areas relevant to international studies, the Scientific Committee is responsible for the scientific evaluation of project proposals for research grants.

The Scientific Committee:

  • acts as an independent body in its decisions
  • guarantees the selection and evaluation of the research projects funded by the SNIS
  • selects research projects submitted in the annual Call for Projects
  • evaluates the funded projects in their intermediary phase and their final version

The Academic Council of International Geneva

The Academic Council of International Geneva includes representatives from international organisations headquartered in Geneva. It supports the SNIS in its operations, guarantees a close collaboration between the SNIS and the international community, and proposes thematic guidelines for academic research relevant to their priority areas.

The Academic Council of International Geneva:

  • is composed by representatives of scientific branches of International Organisations (IO’s)
  • in order to establish the link between Swiss scientists and IO’s

The Secretariat

The Secretariat:

  • is the executive body of the SNIS
  • implements decisions taken by the Governing Committee
  • organises the annual Call for Projects and supports the Scientific Committee
  • ensures the follow-up of funded research projects
  • involves the Academic Council of International Geneva in SNIS activities in order to create a network between IO’s and researches in Switzerland
  • promotes International Studies in Switzerland
