Abstract / Summary
Abstract / Summary:
The overall aim is to better understand individuals' unequal capacities for coping with uncertainties and responding effectively to new opportunities. A methodology will be developed to apply the Capability Approach to analyze differentials in demographic behaviour and their impact on well-being. The objective is to produce an interpretive framework for better using existing data and a conceptual framework to guide future social action. The multidisciplinary transcultural team will undertake case studies through secondary analysis of the data they have compiled on youth and on women's health in Mali and Ghana. The outcomes will be interpreted with field colleagues and discussed with institutional partners (UNFPA Technical Division in New York and UNFPA/UNICEF field offices). Parallel to the scientific dissemination of the results, the methodology developed will be shared with field actors through two regional workshops (in Accra and in Bamako) and a knowledge database.
